“Cosmic Flexion” describes how massive objects, like stars, bend and shape the space around them. Imagine light bending around a black hole, creating stunning cosmic visuals. Understanding this phenomenon expands our knowledge of gravity, space-time, and the universe’s structure, potentially leading to groundbreaking discoveries in astrophysics.

Gravitational flexion refers to higher-order distortions of light caused by massive objects—an extension of gravitational lensing. It reveals not just that space bends, but how curvature changes subtly across a field of view.

Gravitational lensing is used by telescopes like Hubble and James Webb to detect dark matter, map distant galaxies, and observe light from the early universe. These subtle distortions help astrophysicists visualize the invisible structure of space-time.
