Hyper Human - Behind the Art

Installation of Hyper Human in the Garment District New York

Concept & Inspiration

Hyper Human draws from quantum physics to explore how knowledge from one field can spark insights in another. My practice embraces the outsider’s perspective, stepping into unknown disciplines to reveal how we learn and how perception shifts in the face of the unfamiliar. The series takes a future-facing view of humanity, asking how invisible forces and emerging technologies shape what it means to be human.

Presented in partnership with the Garment District Alliance, the Kaufman Arcade lobby was chosen as a site where commuters, workers, and visitors could encounter the work within their daily routines.

Behind the Process

Each piece in Hyper Human is a 24-inch square acrylic print, created through a hybrid process of generative AI and digital drawing. I trained AI on my own style to extend my visual vocabulary, using it as a muse to spark ideas that go beyond perception.

The process began with research into quantum physics concepts and terminology, exploring how abstract scientific ideas might be translated into bold images. From these explorations, I curated and redrew AI sketches to balance conceptual clarity with visual impact, selecting those that resonated.

Execution & Impact

The installation consisted of a series of acrylic prints floating along the wall of the Kaufman Arcade lobby. Their rhythm echoed the architecture of the space, offering a counterpoint to the neutral surfaces. On average, there are about 7,000 viewers each weekday.

The project also included a virtual video opening, which introduced the series and its connections to quantum physics, extending access to audiences beyond Midtown.

In addition, a 30-minute recorded conversation with Dr. Sophie Beck, a quantum physicist from Austria, deepened the dialogue around art and science.

Pre launch, three works were shown at a one-day fundraiser hosted by The Field, allowing audiences to experience them in a gallery context. These activations amplified the impact of the installation and underscored its role in sparking reflection on the intersections of art, science, and humanity.

Artistic Intent

With Hyper Human, I aim to spark curiosity and reflection in the flow of daily life. The series connects scientific concepts with artistic vision to reveal how invisible forces shape human experience. At the same time, it reflects my future-facing view of humanity, where art and science intersect to expand perception. By merging abstraction with ideas from quantum physics, I invite viewers to consider both the seen and unseen dimensions of reality.
